Shirley Hevrin, age 92, of Loves Park, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2023,at Alpine Fireside Health Center. Shirley was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on May 9, 1930 to Lawrence and Esther Hoffman. In 1948 Shirley graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, she went on to study music at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. On January 1st of 1954 Shirley married James Niarhos and went on to have two children. Shirley worked various jobs over the course of her career, eventually retiring from Barber Coleman in 1992. In 1990, she married Dennis Hevrin, who she spent ten beautiful years with before his passing in 2000. Shirley was a member at Chapelwood Community Church honoring the Lord with her musical abilities as a pianist and choir director for many years. She enjoyed her family and was a woman with a strong faith in Christ.
Shirley is survived by her children, Gary Niarhos of Machesney Park, IL and Wanda Hevrin of Loves Park, IL; grandchildren, Samuel Hevrin and Natalie Hevrin; and niece, Pamela (Mark) Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Niarhos and her second husband, Dennis Hevrin; parents; sister Beverly (Lane) Peterson and nephew Lane Peterson Jr.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to the excellent care and compassion provided by the hospital staff of Javon Bea Hospital and Alpine Fireside Health Center.
A visitation will be held on April 17, 2023 from 10am until the time of service at 11am at Chapelwood Community Church (3625 Halsted Road, Rockford, IL 61101). Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Luncheon to follow back at Chapelwood Community Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Chapelwood Community Church.
