Sergio Nunez

Sergio Nunez, 55, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Wednesday evening, December 20, 2023 at Swedish American Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 22, 1968 in Mexico, the son of Aaron and Antonia (Correa) Nunez. Sergio came to the United States in 1987. He met Maria Solano and they married on December 29, 1990 in Eagle Pass, TX. He attended Saint James Catholic Church in Belvidere and Saint Edwards Catholic Church in Rockford. Sergio was a self employed truck driver for 5 years. He enjoyed playing soccer when he was younger and watching soccer in his adult years. Sergio loved listening to music and playing Loteria. Most of all, he adored spending time with his family and friends.

Sergio is loved and missed by his wife, Maria; children, Sergio L. (Rebecca) Nunez, Giovanni (Jose) Hernandez, Eduardo Nunez; grandchildren, Anahi, Davian, Alexsandro, Daleyza and Lyanna; siblings, Armando (Eliazara) Nunez, Victor (Marcela) Nunez, Martin (Fidencia) Nunez, Arturo Nunez, Antonia (Juan) Duran; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Aaron and Antonia Nunez, and his mother and father-in-law, Dominga and Catarino Solano.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 3:00 p.m.
