Rosemary L. Stankey, 79, of Rockford passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 14, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born, Februaury 18, 1935, in Kenosha, WI, to Luigi and Modesta (Lento) Aceto.
She went on to marry the love of her life, Michael Stankey, on September 24, 1960.
Rosemary and Michael previously owned and operated Rockford Specialties. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, traveling, and boating, but she was happiest when she was hosting and entertaining for her loving family and friends.
She is lovingly survived by her children, David (Alyson) Stankey, Susan (Mark) Taylor, and Lisa (John) Stankey Rakus; grandchildren, Matthew and Mitchell Stankey, and Hannah, Michael, Nicholas, Andrew, and Elizabeth Taylor; sister, Felicia (Richard) Arnold; and several other loving family and friends.
Predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother, Sam Aceto.
A Funeral Mass will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd, Rockford. Visitation 1:30 p.m. till the time of service.
