Rose Anna Meyer, 92 of Rockford passed away August 27, 2014. Born September 5, 1921 in Omaha, NE; the daughter of John and Amelia (Haas) Guler. She married Herbert J. Meyer Sr. on March 1, 1942 in Rockford.
A founding member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Rockford; where Rose was very active until her health declined. She was also a member of the Rockford Bowling Hall of Fame, Rockford Sportsman’s Club, and Meadow Mart Merchants Women’s Fast Pitch Soft Ball Team where she made many friends on the Rockford Peaches Team. She led a Girl Scout troop and along with her husband Herbert, helped find and build the first building for the Ken-Rock Community Center at Reed Park. Rose retired as a food service attendant at Morris Kennedy School.
Rose enjoyed playing softball, bowling, pitching horse shoes, gardening, card games, annual fishing trips to Hayward, WI, and family outings to Lake Ripley in Cambridge, WI.
Survivors include her son, Herbert (Carlene) Meyer Jr.; granddaughters, Christie (James) Getzelman and Jennifer (Brent) Alberts; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mallorie, and Nathan Getzelman, Zakary, and Alexa Alberts; 4 step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter, Judith A. Shelton; brother, Frank Guler; sisters, Mary Smith and Esther Griffin.

Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, at Sunset Funeral Home, Machesney Park; Pastor Ralph Kuespert officiating. Visitation one hour prior to service. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
