Rose L. Bailey

Rose L. Bailey, age 87, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. Rose was born on October 29, 1935 in Brookland, Arkansas to Albert and Edna Brown. In 1953 Rose moved to the Rockford area. She met the love of her life, Olen Bailey here in Rockford and they married on April 10, 1954. Rose went on to complete her GED and became a cosmetologist. She owned and operated Bailey's Salon of Beauty, Bailey's Porcelain Dolls and Gifts, and Designs By Rose. Rose was a true lover of the arts, learning more and more about everything she possibly could. She was an avid gardener, creating beauty from the earth as well as her other artistic talents. Rose had immense compassion for everyone and was always willing to assist in any way she could.

Rose is survived by her children, Barry (Lisa) Bailey, Debra Bailey, and Monica (Paul) Ackerman; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren; granddog, Tucker; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Bailey; parents, Albert and Edna Brown; son, Gary Bailey; 12 siblings.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 1pm until the time of service at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Mercy Health At Home Hospice.
