Roger A. Shrum, 72, of Belvidere, IL, finished his earthly race on Monday evening, September 12, 2022. He was born September 15, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of Woodrow and Fleta (Bates) Shrum. Roger married the love of his life, Diana Scott, on January 27, 1968 in Rockford, IL. He was employed for W.A. Whitney for over 30 years. He was also employed as a manufacturing consultant for IMEC. Roger was a minister and faithful servant of Firstborn Ministries in Loves Park, where he taught Sunday school, was youth pastor, board member and was an instrumental part of building the first sanctuary at the current location. He was an avid runner, competing in many Chicago Marathons and was a qualifier and finisher in the Boston Marathon. He enjoyed fishing, and was a skillful woodworker. Roger was a devoted man to his family, however most importantly to his faith.
Roger is loved and missed by his loving wife, Diana Shrum; children, Craig (Tracy) Shrum, Todd Shrum, and Lisa (Rodney) Frederick; grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Shrum, Austen Shrum, Riley Shrum, Rhyan Shrum, Nathan Shrum, Alayna Frederick, Kara Shrum, Connor Frederick and Kaylee Frederick; great-grandchildren, Raelyn Shrum and Owen Shrum; brother, Rick (Linda) Shrum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Paula Shrum.
