

Robert Lee Palm, 82, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, October 27, with family and friends at his side. Born on September 17, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Charles and Mildred (Hihn) Palm.
Bob served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Germany as a Staff Sergeant.
After returning from the war, he went to work for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO., transferring to Florida, helping with the NASA and Dragon Missile programs. He retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1976 and moved to Rockford, and started working for Toledo Scale as an Electronic Specialist, where he retired in 1995.
His passion was fishing. He loved going to the North Star Resort on Lake Chetac in Wisconsin, for the past 20 years, once or twice a year. He enjoyed being outside, staying busy in the yard and taking walks and rides with his best friend, Carole, to watch the eagles soar.
His survivors include his sons, Ronald (Cindy) Palm, Roger Palm, and Richard (Amy) Palm; granddaughters, Courtney (Reid) Bumber, Rachel Palm, Rikki Palm, and Kennedy Palm; best friend, Carole; sisters, Dorthy Palm and Shirley Grotha; brother Charles “Bud” Palm and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by his wife, Edna Arlene Palm; parents, Charles and Mildred Palm; brother, Kenneth and sister-in-law, Jane Palm; brother, Melvin and sister-in-law, Frieda Palm.

Funeral service, 2 p.m., Thursday, November 1 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. till time of service at 2 p.m. Pastor Nat Bauer will be officiating. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
