Robert E. Dobson

Robert E. “Bob” Dobson, 88, of Jonesboro, AR, formerly of Rockton, IL, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, December 22, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro. Bob was born November 28, 1932 in Cherry Valley, IL, the son of Earl and Ruth (Houdyshell) Dobson. He was employed as a machinist, retiring from Sundstrand. Bob made his spiritual home at Central Christian Church in Beloit and South Haven Church in Jonesboro, where he was active when he was able to be. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and riding on his scooter.

Bob is loved and missed by his children, Billie (Frank) Payne, Bobbie (Norman) Dorsch, Tina (Mark) Brown and Robert (Tammy) Dobson; 10 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, brother Earl and sister Janice.

A walk through visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a private family funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/sunsetfuneralhome/IL.
