Richard L. Gustafson of New Milford, Illinois passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Richard, the oldest of 5 children, was born on February 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Briger and Edith (Cloyd) Gustafson.
Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Radar Specialist, honorably discharged in 1963. He graduated from Maranatha Baptist University in 1971 in Pastoral Studies and worked as a driver for Roadway Trucking until his retirement. Richard was a lifelong Republican, passionate about politics and a huge fan of President Donald J. Trump. His interests involved the sciences, astronomy and numismatics. In his younger years, he was quite adventurous enjoying travel and scuba diving.
Richard is lovingly survived by his siblings, Sheldon (Jane), Jim, Linda (Steve) Urbelis and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon (Terry) Franzen.
A private service, officiated by Pastor Charles Waggoner, with military honors, was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois. Condolences to Sunset.
