Nancy J Harder, age 89, of Durand, Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Nancy was born in Rockford, IL on July 26, 1933 to Phillip and Mary Carroll. In 1951 Nancy graduated from Rockford West High School. On February 14 of 1952 she married the love of her life, Charles L. Harder Sr. They spent 68 beautiful years together. She worked as an EEG Technician at Rockford Memorial and several more years, part time, in Key West, Florida. Nancy was a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years. Nancy and Charles Sr. enjoyed traveling and going on several cruises and snow birding to Royal Palm RV Park in Big Pine Key, Florida for over 20 years. She enjoyed camping, cookouts and having the family over for the holidays.
Nancy is survived by her children, Nanette (Dave) Leggett, Charles “Corky” (Carol) Harder, Brian (Susan) Harder; grandchildren, Sheila (Phillip) Hoffman, Matt (Amy) Allen, Dan Allen, Chuck (Karen) Harder, Jeremiah (Jaye) Allen, Michael Curtis, Jennifer (Kevin) Black, Nicholas Curtis, Shanna Clankie, Ryan (Lindsay) Clankie, Dana (Dan) Kunkle, Brittany (JT) Price; 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Brad Curtis; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Mary Carroll; husband, Charles L. Harder Sr.; daughters, Leslie Curtis and Jill (late Mike) Clankie; infant son, Jack Harder; great-grandson, Lucas Black; sister, Phyllis Sundstedt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 9am until the time of Service at 10am at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A Livestream of the Service at 10am will be available as soon as the service starts on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
