Mildred “Millie” E. Govig, 96, of Rockford, passed away Monday November 30, 2015. Born January 18, 1919 in Fairbanks, IA. Daughter of James La Fayette and Iva Mae (Adams) Woods II. Millie lived most of her life in Rockford coming from Charles City, IA at the age of 18. Married Adrian Charles Govig in 1939. Member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was very active within the church. Composed many poems and had some of them published and set some of them to music. Survivors include sons; Richard (Janet), Ronald, Dennis (Deanna), Donald, grandchildren; Teri (Chuck) Ostrom, Shelly (Phil) Hyland, Brandi (Tony) Brandle, Kim Stone, Darian Miller and Dony Govig Pope, two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, husband, siblings; Helen Morhuis, Harold Woods, Dorothy Osterman, Fellamena Daugherty, James La Fayette III, half siblings; Martha Earp and Orie V. Woods. Millie will be laid to rest beside her husband to await The Great Promise 1 John 2-V:25; “So keep on believing what you have been taught from the beginning and you will always be close in fellowship with God the Father, God the Son; for He himself has promised us this.” Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 827 16th Street, Rockford, IL 61104.
