Lyla G. LeHew

Born, Christmas Day 1921, in Clayton, IA, to Samuel and Grace (Chewning) Beckett.

She married Robert O. LeHew on December 22, 1941.

Lyla sold Avon for over 20 years and was affectionately known as the “Avon Lady”.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing, and sewing. She was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Bob (Marge) LeHew, Faye (Ed) VanVleet, Kathy (Ben) Sammons, and Jackie (Steve) Williams; 14 grandchildren, 37great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, parents, and grandson, Josh Williams.

Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be submitted at www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com.
