Kenneth J McCluskey, age 84, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on September 9, 1939 to P.J. & Mary McCluskey in Clyde, Wisconsin. Kenneth spent his childhood on his family's dairy farm, tending cows, farming crops, and doing all of the tasks that a working dairy farm entails. His favorite collie, Sport, would help him bring cattle to the barn safely each day. He enjoyed fishing on the Wisconsin River. Growing up one of twelve siblings, family was the most important thing to him. He instilled that importance in his own children. Married in 1965, Kenneth and Kay raised six children together, making sure they put family first just like he did. He was a strict parent, but as time passed, he was able to show the softer side of himself.
Kenneth joined the Army Reserves when he was 17, staying in the service until he received an honorable discharge to go help on his family's farm. Soon after, he moved to Rockford for all the job opportunities available at that time. Kenneth worked hard for his family, working two full time jobs most of his adult life. He spent 42 years working for Elco Tool in various positions during his time there. The last 12 years of his career he spent working for Columbia Pipe & Supply, driving tractor trailers and making deliveries in Wisconsin, which he enjoyed very much. He only retired when his wife required full time assistance. Ever the family man, he gladly obliged. Kenneth possessed a very strong work ethic, which he instilled in all of his children.
Kenneth was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan his entire life, even getting to attend a couple games in Green Bay. He loved to maintain his yard, using fertilizers and installing a sprinkler system to keep it as pristine as Lambeau Field. He enjoyed returning to Wisconsin for the holidays and family gatherings, spending time with his siblings while enjoying a few euchre games with them. He always had a passion for snowmobile riding; he loved to spend time with family and friends, enjoying a good day on the trails. Kenneth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kenneth is survived by his children Troy McCluskey, David McCluskey, Dennis McCluskey, Mary (Rusty) Puhl, & Joe McCluskey; son-in-law Jason Ergle; many beloved grandchildren, including grand-son-in-law Jack Allman JR.; and many beloved great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Lou, Dot, Gerry, Barb, Kayann, Mike, Bruce; and many nieces and nephews
