Judith M. (Smith) Lindner age 85 passed away suddenly after a brief illness on December 24, 2016. Born on June 25, 1931 in Racine, WI, daughter of Charles and Ruth (Bertelson) Smith, graduated from Solomon Juneau High School in Milwaukee, WI. Married Robert J. Lindner in Milwaukee on June 6, 1953. They moved to Rockford, IL in the summer of 1962, where Robert was a Design Engineer at Ingersoll Milling Machine Company. He passed away on November 25, 2006. Judy worked at Sears Catalog for 26 years, retiring in 1997.
Judy had a very open and loving nature, and she touched so many lives in a positive way. She was always there to listen, advise or support her loved ones in any situation. With her ready wit and sense of humor, she was a laughing lady, often equal parts of silly and sassy. Family and friends were everything to her, and she never let a friend slip through her fingers to the passing years. She taught her children and grandchildren to live with the same strength, love, and humor, and that will be her living legacy.
Survived by her children: Ellen M. Goldammer (Guy) of Vadnais Heights, MN, Kathy A. Hardy (Duncan) of Littleton, CO, Greg A. Lindner (Julie) of Lodi, WI, and Jan D. Johnson of Rockford,IL. Her grandchildren: Ellen’s children--Betsy Howard (Steve), Katie Goldammer (Lee Peters), Christofer Goldammer, Kathy’s children--Ryan Sise (Brenda Kragel), Kieran McGuire (Sarah Eystad), Keaton Hardy, Greg’s children--Adam Lindner (Kaity), Melissa Davey (John), Jan’s children--Drew Johnson (Shelly Mihm), Taylor Ball, and Cameron Ball. Two great-grandchildren: Kaiya Ball and Evelyn Howard. Her sister Virginia Schwartz (Harold) of Bartlett, TN and her brother David Smith (Sally) of Waukesha, WI., also her many nieces and nephews, numerous friends and neighbors.
Pre-deceased by her parents, Charles and Ruth Smith of Milwaukee, WI., her beloved husband, Robert, her sister Gloria Kuntz (Chris) of Menominee Falls, WI, and many dear friends.
Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 30 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation on Thursday, December 29 at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday at 9 a.m. until time of service. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
