Joyce M. Williams, 88, of Roscoe, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Javon Bea Hospital with her family by her side. Joyce was born in Rockford to Garner and Lida Runyan on October 2, 1935. She attended Harlem High School, and still kept in touch with her long-time friends and classmates. On December 31, 1956, Joyce married the love of her life John B. Williams in Yreka, California. She worked at Woodward Governor for many years before specializing in customer service at Schnucks in Roscoe.
Even after retirement, Joyce kept busy. She loved going out to shop, or going antiquing. She liked being out of the house as often as she could. Above all else, Joyce’s priority was her family. She was truly the matriarch of the family, hosting every holiday gathering, and doing the cooking. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was so very proud to be their grandma.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Williams and Kathy (Larry) Kotalik; grandchildren, David (April) Burdick, Johnny (Bethany) Burdick, Ryan Stargel, Kyle (Jessica) Stargel, Krystyn Stargel, Lauren (Steve) Barten, Theresa Kotalik, and Grace Kotalik; great-grandchildren, Conner Burdick, Caleb Burdick, Maverick Burdick, Brooks Burdick, Ryatte Stargel, Dalton Stargel, Torryn Stargel, Calysta Stargel, Hazel Barten, and Jackson Barten; siblings, Jerry Runyan, Sharon Bryhan, and Maryann Pritchett; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Garner and Lida; brother-in-law, Ralph Bryhan; sister-in-law, Jean Runyan.
