Joanne M. Smith, 88 of Rockford passed away January 20, 2014. Born April 12, 1925 in Amite, LA; she was the daughter of Vito and Frances Locascio. She married Gerald L. Smith June 26, 1946 in Rockford.
A member of St Anthony of Padua Parish, she retired from the Giant Store after many years of employment.
Joanne enjoyed Italian music, cooking and spending time with her family, which was her first priority.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara J. (John) Welte; sister, Josephine Coser; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter, Betty Jean White; son, William “Bill” Vito Smith; sisters, Mildred Davis, Caroline Ambruoso, and Lucy Kolliker.
