Jimmy D. Hastings, 77, of Machesney Park IL went to be with the Lord December 10, 2020. Born on August 6, 1943 in Cleveland Ohio to Eva Mae R. and Vernard Hastings. He married Janice Eklund on August 15, 1964. He was a passionate person in all of his endeavors. Jimmy was a talented bass guitar player and singer, a hard worker, a loving father, grandfather and companion. Everything Jimmy did received his full efforts. He spent a number of years working for Hydro-line Hydrolics in Rockford as a machinist. He played bass guitar and sang in Countyline Band as well as many other bands in the Northern IL area.
He is survived by his children, Sheila (Paul) Alger of Freeport, and Mark (Dawn) Hastings of Pecatonica; his partner, Kate Warren of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Nikki (Chris) Potempa of Shannon, Jason Rhodes of Freeport, Jaidon Hastings and Owen Hastings; great grandchildren, Kylee, Maxton, Grace, Rose, Bradley, and Graham; his siblings, Joyce Corby of Chuckey TN, Elaine (Ronald) Barnes of Cottontown TN, Jack (Barb) Hastings of Machesney Park, Michael (Rosa) Hastings of Clearwater FL, Ron (Pam) Hastings of Loves Park. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife; Janice Hastings, his mother, his father and step mother, brother, and brother-in-law.
A limited walk through visitation is scheduled for December 18th from 5-7pm at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
