Fannie Brenté Stubblefield, age 87, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. She was born on August 16, 1936 in Huntsville, Texas to Enola (Wiley) and Bolzie Bookman. She married the love of her life, Melvin R. Stubblefield, on August 5, 1955 and they spent just under 69 wonderful years together.
Fannie volunteered to run the election polls for 35 years. She enjoyed bowling on her league, playing piano, and could read music beautifully.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin R. Stubblefield; children, Melvin D. Stubblefield and Stephanie Jones; granddaughter, Jasmine C. Fredricks; siblings, Gervis Lee Bookman and Jasper Sanford; brother-in-law, Toby Stubblefield; nephews, Ty and Paul; as well as the cousins of the Chuck Jefferson family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enola and Bolzie Bookman; and brothers, Alvin Ray Bookman and Curtis Bookman.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 10th from 9:00am - 11:00am at New Zion Missionary Baptist, 4747 W Riverside Blvd Rockford, Illinois 61101. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am.
