Duane Arthur Juhnke, 85, of Loves Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, March 9, 2019 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Duane was born December 23, 1933 in Janesville, WI, the son Adolf and Olga (Janisch) Juhnke. He was proud to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. Duane married Donna Warr on October 15, 1955, she preceded him in death. He married Diane Moline on June 13, 1980. Duane worked in maintenance at many places, including Sundstrand, and Warner Lambert. Duane was a faithful member of City First Church in Rockford. He enjoyed playing cards and going to potlucks. Duane was a very skilled tradesman and dedicated worker, even teaching himself how to rehab houses. He was very well known for collecting and recycling cans in the neighborhood.
Duane is loved and missed by his wife, Diane; children, Kim (John) Gustafson, Trina (Steve) Pearce, Deon (Bartolo) Fresco, Sharla Bachrodt; step-children, Robert Moline, William (Deb) Moline, Kathryn (Robert) Turner, and Steven (Tonya) Moline; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews; brothers and sister-in-law, James B. and Mary Hall, Frank Gulcynski, and Gary Scott; his beloved dog, Penney. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Olga, first wife, Donna, and step-daughter, Christine Moline-Harrison, sisters, Julia Raisbeck and Eldora Gulcynski.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019 at City First Church, 5950 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61114 with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
