Dorothy L. Bennett, 99, of Winnebago, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday morning December 26, 2022 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born April 15, 1923 in Forestburg, SD, the daughter of Lester and Ida (Elias) Walker. Dorothy was employed at Amerock for many years and later for the Illinois Department of Unemployment. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed organizing benefits for people in need. Dorothy organized over 35 benefits. Most of all, she loved sewing and quilting. Dorothy was a bright light in our lives that will never dim.
Dorothy is loved and missed by her children, Dixie Lancaster, Sharon Milburn and James (Irene) Milburn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Molly; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Sandra Vallance and Barb Roland; as well as numerous siblings.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
