Donna P. Freese

Donna P. Freese, 85, of Rockford, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born February 6, 1939 in Williamson, West Virginia, the daughter of Earl H. and Virgie K. (Wilson) Reynolds. She was raised by her father, Earl and step-mother, Stella. Donna graduated from high school and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. Donna loved learning and was always taking courses to further her education. She was employed most of her life in Government Civil Service, and always worked a second job as well. Donna enjoyed gardening, writing and doing photography. She loved traveling. Donna was a volunteer grandmother at the Zoo Childcare. She had a loving heart and definitely believed in love. Most of all, she will be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Donna is loved and missed by her loving daughter, Patricia (Christopher) Mateika; grandchildren, Samuel Mateika, James (Kimberly) Mateika, Cassandra Mateika, Daniel Mateika; great-grandchildren, Madelynn Mateika, Matthew Mateika, Jacob Blondin, Samantha Mateika, Wyatt Blondin and Charlotte Mateika; sister, Shirley Gelhaus; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, James Williams, Donald Zentz and Kenneth Freese; step-mother, Stella Reynolds; granddaughter-in-law, Deborah Mateika; siblings, Lula and James.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
