Bill and I taught with Dan at Hinckley Big Rock High School.  He was one special man.

I only knew "Wally" that first year, but he helped me out tremendously to learn the culture and success of "HBR" and always was a joy to coach and teach with.  His stories will always be remembered, along with his laughter and wisdom.  Rest in Peace Dan, we will always remember you.

I taught with Dan at Hinckley Big-Rock High School for several years. I was out of town last week and am saddened to hear of his passing. I always enjoyed hearing about all of his driving adventures that he experienced on his way to school. He was an outstanding teacher, coach and colleague.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dan....  I always enjoyed him as a person, teacher, and coach at Hinckley-Big Rock High School.  He had a good sense of humor and a very pleasant personality.

So sorry for your loss.
I have a lot of good memories of him from high school, attending his class and when he coached our soccer team. He was a brilliant mentor and coach.

Some of my fondest memories growing up centered around playing soccer at HBR.  Coach Walenberg was  a big part of that time and was an awesome person to be around.  I was sad to hear the news and wanted to,say thank you coach for always being a positive and outstanding person and I will miss you

Dear Dan:  We are very sad that you have left us and we offer our sincere condolences to your family.  You will be missed by many, particularly those of us who coached with you for many years, especially Doc and I, who together had a friendship that only we can explain.  It went beyond coaching and the statistics, which made us the envy of other schools.  Personally my wife and I considered you a special family friend while having fun together at many games and functions over the years and our three sons were better for knowing you, as a teacher, coach and friend.
