Daniel Hicks

Daniel Joseph Hicks, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Born August 12, 1969 in Rockford, IL. Son of Billy Denver and Carol (Fitch) Hicks. Graduate of Jefferson High School class of 1988. United in marriage to Lorraine Czubachowski on July 10, 1999 in Loves Park. Dan and Lorrie shared a love of camping so much that they camped in Wisconsin Dells for their Honeymoon.

Worked as a security officer for several years for Gunite Corporation until his health didn’t allow. Dan was a simple man who loved the simple pleasures in life. From playing his guitar, to having a cup of coffee, to the smell of a good campfire while camping and to listening to classic rock music. He loved old cars and trucks and even worked on restoring them.

Survived by his son, Joshua Daniel Hicks; wife, Lorrie; step-daughter, Jessica Czubachowski; grandson, Abel McGarry; mother, Carol (John) Null; sisters, Lori (Johnny) Rhyne, Donna (Pat) McDevitt, Leisha Hicks, Liana Bray, Kathy Davidson; brothers, Tony Hicks, Billy Hicks; nieces, Noel (Nikko) Amoroso, Kaitlyn (Da’Shon) Ciaccio, Ireland McDevitt, Jessica McDevitt; nephews, Nicholas (Alexis) Drake, Zackary (Tabytha) Drake, Sean (Stephanie) Rhyne, Scott (Jena) Rhyne; several grand-nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Predeceased by his father; sister, Andrea Noble.

Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 9 a.m. until time of service. In Lieu of Flowers memorials can be made in Daniel's name to the Family. Burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
