Carl D. Curtis, 66, of Machesney Park, passed away at 1:06 a.m. on Tuesday October 18, 2011 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 2, 1944 in Rockford, the son of Carl and Lillian Curtis He graduated from Auburn High School in 1962 the very first graduating class. Carl served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War later he married Connie Holliday on May 13, 1977, she survives him, he is also survived by three sons; Jeff (Cheryl) Woodard, Brad Curtis and Brian Hartzell; one daughter Cari Brown; two grandchildren Paige Woodard and Thomas Curtis; three sisters Judy (Bill) McWilliams, Sherry (Jim) Copas and Linda (Ron) Tallacksen and one sister-in-law Shirley (Gary) Eilers. And many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his Father and Mother-in law Russell and Helen Holliday.
Carl was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman and Nascar racing fan. Carl enjoyed a long career with Rockford Blacktop before retiring after more than 30 years of service. Later he enjoyed his work with his family at Teslow Garages.
A memorial service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park, on Sunday October 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. a visitation will be held two hours prior to services.
