Candace Carol Davis, 73, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She was born November 1, 1949 in Panama City, Florida, the daughter of Gerald and Charlotte (Kirchner) Cremeens. Candace married the love of her life, Ronald Davis, Sr. on June 7, 1965 in Dekalb, IL.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved cooking for her family, especially on holidays and football Sundays when she’d prepare a feast for all or just her favorite food critic: her husband. The ultimate crafter, Candace thrived on creativity. She enjoyed ceramics and sewing, from the one-of-a-kind Halloween costumes she’d design for her young children, to the cozy blankets she’d make for loved ones in her later years. Candace took that talent to the outdoors as well, basking in the summer sun while tending to her beautiful gardens; and at holiday time, Candace had a knack for creating a magical Christmas experience with delightful decor, handmade creations, and the most delicious treats. The consummate caregiver, Candace never hesitated to lend a helping and healing hand when family and friends were in need. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy; spending time with them brought her such happiness. Candace adored her family and will be deeply missed.
Candace is the cherished mom of Candace (Phil) Rogers and Ronald (Kathy Stimes) Davis Jr.; Cherished grandmother of Nathan (Hannah) Davis, Jessica Graham and Emily Rogers; Adored great-grandmother to Leo and Clark Davis; brother, Greg Cremeens as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald and brother Richard Cremeens.
A visitation will be held from 4:30-6:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N.
