Arthur F. Wall, 92, of Machesney Park, IL, united with his beloved wife, Alma (Brown) Wall on Friday, February 4, 2022. Born on August 21, 1929 in King’s Mountain, Kentucky. Arthur was the fourth of eight children of William Oliver and Virginia Myrtle (Leach) Wall. Arthur attended Lincoln County schools while helping his parents on the family. At the age of 12, he was harnessing and plowing behind a team of mules from sun up to supper. After, he had to take care of the animals and equipment before eating. Arthur finished the eighth grade before helping on the farm full time. At the age of 17, Art joined the Army Air Corp. He served for three years as part of the World War II occupation force in Okinawa. Within three years, he achieved the rank of Buck Sergeant as a plane and jet mechanic. Art married Alma F. Brown on September 10, 1949. They moved to Rockford, IL, to work and make a life. Art retired from Greenlee Brothers in 1984 after 30 years of service. Art learned to ride a motorcycle at the age of 65 and joined the Honda Goldwing Riders. He spent most of his spare time riding and socializing with his fellow Goldwing Riders. He enjoyed taking many trips and toy rides with the group. Art finally sold his Goldwing at the age of 85.
Art is predeceased by his parents, his wife Alma, and six siblings. Surviving Art as sister, Allene Bottoms, daughter Sherry Henke, son Gregory (Diane) Wall, sister-in-law Sylvia (Bottoms) Wall, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
