Teresa Gail Sims Charrier Starks of Gun Barrel City, Texas was born on June 3rd, 1949 in Merced, California to parents Obie Sims and Ruby Stanley Sims. During her childhood, Teresa loved the outdoors, caring for her siblings and living and loving the word of God. Teresa was a beautiful girl, and an even more beautiful soul. She did well in school and in extracurricular activities. She had many suitors, but at 16, John Charrier stole her heart. They met in John's hometown of Monroe, Louisiana, and then shortly after she relocated to Merced, California, where Teresa graduated from high school. While Teresa completed her studies, John joined the Navy. Rather than taking the opportunity to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Teresa focused on building a family with John. Teresa and John moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. John went to work for a food supply company and Teresa concentrated on growing and nurturing her family. In 1971, Teresa gave birth to Aaron Christopher Charrier, a happy and bright baby, whom was the light of her life. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Bossier City, Louisiana, where she gave birth to her darling daughter, Lisa Charrier. While in Bossier, Teresa was a dedicated employee of Pittsburgh Des Moines and Steel. In 1982, the family relocated from Louisiana to Texas, where they eventually settled in Garland, Texas and Teresa began her seventeen year career with the JCPenney Corporation where she excelled as an Administrative Support Supervisor and later as an Information Technology Analyst. Teresa was a dedicated employee and created friendships that would last a lifetime during her tenure at JCPenney Corporate. Teresa gave birth to her final child, Andrew Charrier in 1984, a bright and loving baby, whom Teresa adored and they remained almost inseparable until her passing. Teresa had a special bond with all of her children. They all have so many fond memories of the time they shared with their mom. Teresa enjoyed gardening, sewing, hot summer days by the pool and lake. She took great pride in her amazing cooking skills, and her home was remembered by all as spotless. Teresa was a true and good person. She was one of the few who didn't judge, and would literally give anyone the shirt off her back. Her children loved her visits, as it meant clean homes, spiritual growth and the love only a mother could give. In 1992, Teresa met her current husband Larry Starks. They moved to Gun Barrel City, Texas. Teresa retired from her long and storied career at JCPenney and began the next phase of her life raising cattle and caring for her family. Some of Teresa's fondest memories involved the births of her grandchildren, John, Alexis, Brady, Isaiah and Claire. Teresa adored her grandchildren and was so proud when her eldest grandson, John graduated from high school. Another highlight, was attending her son, Aaron's marriage to his wife Becca in Jamaica. Her children and grandchildren have many unforgettable memories of fun summers spent in Texas and Idaho. Teresa and Larry shared 20 years together before her passing on February 19, 2015. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Melissa Sims and her son, Aaron Charrier.
