Sam joined the United States Navy at age 17 serving 4 years. Sam had 2 grown children, son Eric and daughter Stacy, 9 stepchildren and a whole lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews more than 50.
Sam was widowed by wife Mary Lee Boyd after 20 years. When Sam married Mary, she had 7 kids and added many grandchildren over time. He loved them all. When Mary got sick, Sam retired from working as a boilermaker to become her sole caregiver for the last year of her life.
Sam had a gruff exterior with a heart of Gold. He cared about people and wanted to help them make good choices, as he was a giver. He gave unsolicited advice to anyone he thought could benefit from it. I’m sure a lot of folks benefited from Sam’s love! Sam’s personality was overwhelming to some people, but if you took the time to get to know him you couldn’t find a better friend. All he ever wanted was for everyone to be happy. When you think of Sam, just smile and be happy.
Samuel is survived by his son Eric Boyd; and his daughter Stacy Boyd; his sister and brother-in-law Patty Green (Jim Green) and his brother and sister-in-law Bill Boyd (Carolyn Boyd). Sam also leaves behind his current wife Kathy of 9 years and her kids and 6 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Samuel was preceded in death by his 1st wife Mary Lee Boyd, his father, Oran Ellsworth Boyd and his mother, Mary Leona Boyd.
