Rachel was born on February 1, 1924 in Westminster, Texas to parents Guy and Salley (Arington) Geer and entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2018 at the age of 94. Rachel was an amazing woman, she was very active. She made quilts for homeless shelters and crocheted toboggans for the students at Eustace Elementary. Rachel donated to the WWII veterans and for the plaque at Veterans Memorial in Metairie, LA. She donated to Alzheimer’s and American Cancer Society and was recognized for it. When she wanted something done…it got done. Rachel raised her children and everyone else’s too. She had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Rachel was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond McCorkle, son Buster Brown, daughter Midget Barnes, great-grandsons; Zackery Williams and David Jobe, 2 sisters and 7 brothers.
She is survived by her son Richard Brown and wife Rhonda of Mabank, son James Alley of Mabank, daughter Sarah Janice McCorkle of Mabank, daughter Linda Ishmael and husband James of Mabank, 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, brother Leo Geer and wife Ann of Durant, OK, brother Bobby Geer and wife Jennie of Westminster, TX, brother Sam Geer of Westminster, TX, other loving family members and many more friends.
