Preston Ray Cherry

Celebration of life services for Preston Ray Cherry, 24, of Kemp, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas with Debra Turner officiating. Visitation with the family will be held the evening prior on Tuesday, April 2, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.

Preston passed from this life on March 5, 2024. He was born on March 8, 1999, in Kaufman, Texas to Anthony Wayne and Jeannie Ann (Downs) Cherry. Preston grew up in Kemp, Texas where he attended high school and met the love of his life, Araminta Cherry, who he married on October 10, 2021. They married by the family pond among family and friends, promising to love each other forever and always, always and forever. Following high school, Preston joined the United States Army and served our country proudly for six years as Military Police. Preston was a fun loving family man who enjoyed music like playing the guitar, the trumpet during high school and playing on his high school football team. He loved history, marvel-dc, technology and enjoyed fast sport cars. Preston always loved cooking with his family and enjoying meals that included his favorite meatloaf, that his wife mastered. On his days off, he was a hard core gamer and spending time with his wife cooking and chilling watching their favorite show. He sharpened his skills with target practice and mastered several ranks in his unit. He loved the color red and his Camaro was his favorite car. Preston loved his wife and family very much and always had a smile on his face.

He is preceded by his grandmother, Diane Edwards; grandfather, Johnny Corley; great grandmother, Bonnie Plassmeyer; great grandmother, Helen Rodgers; and great grandfather, Mac Ray.

Preston is survived by his beloved wife, Araminta, their God son, Michael Lee Bustamante and adored dog, Brox Stone Cherry; mother, Jeannie Downs and step-father, Andy Dawson; father, Tony Cherry; mother-in-law, Misti Sowell; brothers: Cory Wilhite and fiancée, Xena Bly, Joshua Downs and fiancée, Cheyenne Meltz, Corey Dawson, Christopher Dawson and wife, Brandon Dawson, Aries Bly; sisters-in-law, Megan Elrod and Melodi Shawver; grandparents: Ronnie and Doris Downs, Don and Carol Lewis, Linda Corley; cherished aunts and uncles along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Wilhite, Josh Downs, Corey Dawson, Brandon Dawson, David Sowell and Brandon Shawver.
