Paul Craig Thomas was born into his earthly life in Jacksonville, Florida on June 4, 1949. He was welcomed into Heaven on May 18, 2016 in Dallas, Texas surrounded by family and friends after a valiant battle with cancer.
Paul was second of four children born to John B. and Elaine (McDougald) Thomas. He is survived by his siblings Teresa McNeny and husband Rusty of Garland, Texas and brother Brian Thomas and wife Sherri of Austin, Texas. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Gray Wayne Thomas and both of his parents. He is also survived by the love of his life, Cathy Thomas of Mabank, Texas, and his 3 children; daughter, Brandi Thomas of Mabank, daughter and son-in-law Traci and Rob Niles of Crosby, Texas and son and daughter-in-law Craig and Rebecca Thomas of Hallsville, Texas. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; Brooke, Bailey, Ryan, Austen, Erik, Ben, Mia, Justin, Mady, Boone and Magnolia, all of which were his pride and joy.
After moving to Arlington, Texas from Lincoln, Nebraska in 1967, he married his soulmate, Cathy, in 1969. Paul was a veteran. He was drafted in 1969 and honorably served his country for 18 months in Vietnam. His work ethic, humility and selflessness were apparent to his family and friends throughout his life and to his co-workers at Mack Truck, where he worked for over 35 years.
Paul was an avid golfer, an incredible grill master, a great storyteller and the biggest Nebraska Cornhusker fan on earth. His legacy will be one of generosity, of humbleness and of love.
Albert Einstein once said, “Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the young generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.”
So, let us celebrate Paul’s Life and continue his legacy. Thank you God for Paul and the 67 years you blessed us with his spirit. May his soul rest in your presence.
