Mildred was born on June 23, 1926 in Ennis, Texas to parents Rudolph and Emilie (Jaresh) Sonka and entered into eternal rest on July 2, 2018 at the age of 92. Mildred graduated from Ennis High School. She was a housewife for many years but worked at Brown’s Boot Store for a period and then Johnson Monroe Realtors. Mildred was given the nickname “Millie Mae” by her son and “Mildew” by one of her friends. She loved being with her family and friends. Mildred enjoyed being in the water; she water skied up until the age of 60. She also enjoyed traveling and dancing including polka, square and country western. Mildred was well known for her delicious kolach pastries. Mildred was very active in the lake community. Some of the organizations she was involved with included the 49er’s, the Literary Club, The Red Hat Society, the Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club and Eastern Star. Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mabank, Texas. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband William Floyd, brother Victor Sonka and sisters; Janie Beasley and Margie Smith.
She is survived by her sons Wayne McDonald and wife Carolyn of Willis, Gary McDonald and wife Brenda of Van Alstyne, and Keith McDonald and wife Lisa of Tool, grandchildren Donovan, Emily, Brian, Jason, Brad, Clay and Paige, 10 great-grandchildren, and other loving family members and friends.
