Melvin Lee Harrison

Melvin Lee Harrison, a proud husband, dad, Paw-Paw, Pe-Paw and Grand-Pappy, as well as a veteran of the US Navy, passed away November 8, 2021 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Gun Barrel City, Texas. He was born January 16, 1938, in Pitt County, North Carolina to James Norman Harrison Sr. and Ella Susan Manning Harrison. In his youth, Melvin enlisted in the US. Navy and served aboard the USS Coral Sea. Melvin married Judith Carol Gray on June 30th, 1962.

Melvin is survived by his wife Judith Harrison, daughter Susan Alexander and husband Raymond, son Kenneth Harrison, son Chis Harrison and wife Kristie, granddaughters Cassondra Hudson and Brittany Golightly, grandson Chris Harrison Jr, great granddaughters Emily, Sophie, and Allie, and great grandsons Liam, Fredrick and Braylon. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents James and Ella Harrison, his brothers James Harrison Jr, and Jeffrey Harrison, his son Melvin L. Harrison Jr, and grandson Jeffrey W. Fraze Jr.

Family was the most important thing to Melvin. He spent his last years enjoying all the rewards of being not only a father and grandfather, but also the wonderous opportunity of being grand-pappy to his great grand-children. He was a never-ending source of love, strength, and encouragement to all, and he will be deeply missed.
