Matthew Dwayne Hutchins

Matthew Dwayne Hutchins, of Athens TX, age 48, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2025, at UT Southwestern Clements in Dallas TX. He was born on May 1, 1976, in McAlester, OK to Deborah Hutchins.

Matt was a Computer Technician turned Hay Farmer by trade. However, his proudest accomplishment was being a father. He was a wonderful son, a loving father, a supportive and caring partner. Matt never missed a chance to spend quality time with his family, engaged in activities such as gaming, touring museums and hiking at our beautiful Texas State Parks. Matt also enjoyed Ham Radio, riding his motorcycle, watching storms and the night sky. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, love for his family and his contagious smile.

Matt is survived by his life partner Misty Smiley and their teenage son Matthew Evan Hutchins of Athens TX, his mother Deborah Lemon of Athens TX, Uncle Dean and Aunt Kathy Hutchins of Lake Fork TX, Grandfather Virgil and wife Jackie Hutchins of Kellyville OK, numerous cousins, and his beloved cat Simon.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Bonnie Foster.

A graveside service for Matthew Dwayne Hutchins will be held at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park located at 16701 TX-198, Mabank, Texas on May 3, 2025 at 2 p.m.

Please come comfortably dressed and ball caps are welcome.
