Mathew Charles Ewaskiw

Mr. Mathew Charles Ewaskiw was born on November 26, 1976 to parents Edward and Linda Ewaskiw, in Scarborough, Ontario. Mat, as he was known to his family and friends, entered eternal rest on September 19, 2020, at the age of 43. Mat was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Everyone knew they could count on him anytime. He was very loved and appreciated. Mat was a huge and active part of the Mabank community, where he served with the fire department, police department and was also employed by Kaufman County Fire Marshal as Deputy Fire Marshal for 2 years. He also loved teaching in the schools as “Higbee” the clown, teaching fire safety and educating our next generation with the knowledge he had acquired in his many years of honorable service. He was a member of the “Life and Fire Safety Clown Association” known as “LAFS”. He loved collecting all different types of service patches over the years; military, fire and police. Mat was a special part of this community and will be missed tremendously. He was always ready with a joke and a smile and enjoyed making others days brighter.

Mat is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife; Angie, son; Michael, brothers; Eddie, James and wife JoAnn. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and lifelong friends.
