Larry was born on October 22, 1937 in Greenville, Texas to parents L.J. Hart and Annie Owens and passed surrounded by family on May 13, 2017 at the age of 79. Those who knew him knew Larry Hart was bigger than life, and had a personality to match. Larry lived his life to the fullest by working hard and playing harder. He was fearless; there wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. Although many people knew him as Big Daddy, his wife and girls knew him as their Hero. In 1991, Larry had a vision and built Big Daddy’s Flea Market from the ground up developing it into what it is today. His two great loves were his family and living on the lake. Larry enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf and working in his flowerbeds. He admired all his beautiful flowers and landscaping. He was also a big fan of just about any kind of racing. He was very active in his community, always filling in where help was needed. Larry was also an inspiration in the design of the Cedar Creek Library in addition to serving on the board. He loved his church; Larry attended here at Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist, where he served as an Usher, until he was no longer able. Because of Larry’s love for golf; he and his wife were always sponsors of the annual church golf tournament. Larry was blessed for being able to help those in need and enjoyed it from the bottom of his big heart. He was an amazing, caring and giving man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his sister Barbara Ann Finley and his brother Jerry Don Hart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 wonderful years; Shirley Hart of Trinidad, his daughter Phyllis Pittman and husband Charles of Sanger, his daughter Carla Hill of Haltom City, his daughter Dana Daugherty and husband Jim of Fort Worth, his grandchildren; Lindsay, Lauren, Josh, Joey, Lianne and Jeffrey, 9 beautiful great-grandchildren, his brother Bill Hart and wife Glenda of Colleyville, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members as well as countless friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Larry’s honor to Cedar Creek Lake Methodist Church of Tool at P.O. Box 43175, Seven Points, Texas 75143 or the Alzheimer Foundation at www.alzfdn.org.
