David, as he was known to everyone, graduated from Furr High School in 1979. He was on the yearbook staff as a photographer for Furr HS and a photographer at San Jac College. He began working for his dad, Jimmy Dossey, on construction sites. He attended and completed Carpenter Apprenticeship School, to become a journeyman carpenter. He wanted to do construction, fulltime, much to his parents’ dismay. He and his father worked for Spaw Glass together, this began his journey in the construction industry. He loved the construction process and seeing the finished product. He spent ten or more years with TAS. He gave nineteen or more years and his whole heart to PaveCon Commercial Concrete and Mark Plamondon. As much of a thrill as he got from watching panels being stood, he got just as much of a thrill from the tap-tap of a bass or a crappie. David Dossey was a fisherman, he was a father, a paw paw, a brother, a Christian, and a loving husband.
David was preceded in death by his father, James Leon Dossey. David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tammy Dossey; three children: Cara Dyer and husband Adam, Dustin Dossey, and Magen Marcum and husband John; six beautiful grandchildren he loved dearly: Hagen Dyer, Cooper Dyer, Keaton Dyer, Brayden Marcum, Jimma Dossey and Braxton Marcum. He is also survived by his mother; Marilyn Dossey and two sisters; Vickey Carriere and Robyn Turner.
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Pickens Center Hospital of Baylor Dallas and the kind care they gave to David. We would most gratefully like to thank the Child Life specialist, Tessa Whitten, for her immeasurable help.
A gathering and visitation for James will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 South 3rd Street 198, Mabank, TX 75147.
