Glenda V. King, formerly of Payne Springs, TX passed away from cancer on Monday, 10 July 23 at her residence in the Boerne, TX area. Glenda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City and First Baptist Church of Boerne, TX.
Glenda was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in the Irving, TX area. She married Thomas T. King in 1954 and began a career as a Military Spouse traveling around the world until Thomas’s retirement from the US Air Force 1976 and choose to reside in the Cedar Creek community. Glenda obtained her Associates Degree in Applied Science (Dentistry) as a Certified Dental Assistant. While at Cedar Creek, she was heavily involved as an Instructor with Weight Watchers, Church Group Leader, Church Librarian and other civil organizations.
Glenda was a member of the Henderson County Homemakers Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Sons of the Confederacy. She was involved in every aspect of these groups and took pride in her service to these organizations and the community for which they served.
Glenda was blessed with two sons, Thomas G. King and John T. King. Due to Thomas’s career with the USAF as a Pilot, she was responsible for the care and wellbeing of these children as well as the normal homemaker duties and responsibilities of being a military spouse.
Glenda was preceded in death by both of her parents, her spouse Thomas, sister Barbara and brother Edwin. Glenda is survived by her sister Debra, son Thomas, son John and daughter-in-law Wanda. Glenda was a Great-Great Grandmother, a Great Grandmother to two children (Shauna and Mason), a grandmother to Rhonda, Abigail, Ariel, Ruben, Elisheba, and Rafael.
Services are scheduled for a Graveside Ceremony at Webb Hill Cemetery, White Rock, Texas on Tuesday, July 18th at 10AM.
