Frances Claudine Parks Everett (“Claudine”) passed away on April 28, 2018, at age 89 in Denton, Texas due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Claudine was born to Claude H. Parks and Maglee Chase Parks in Waco, Texas on November 25, 1928. She was reared in Waco and was a graduate of Waco High School. In 1948, she married Alvis Madison Everett, and they remained married until his death in 1986. Claudine and Al had two children, Claudia and Alvis, Jr. (“Skip”). Claudine was later married to Clifford John Bentjen until his death in 1996.
Claudine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She resided in the Cedar Creek area for many years until 2015, when she became a resident of Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care in Denton. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City, Texas. Over the years, she especially enjoyed ballroom dancing, hunting for antiques, playing bridge, volunteering at her church, and traveling. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the fine paper industry in Dallas for many years.
Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, by her husbands, Alvis Everett, Sr. and Cliff Bentjen, by her son, Alvis Everett, Jr., and by her brother, Derral Parks. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Everett Melton, and her husband Bill of Little Elm, Texas, and by her grandsons, Randall Craig Decker and wife Victoria of Van Alstyne, Texas; Andrew Scott Decker of Denton, Texas; Jason Claude Everett and wife Amanda of Mabank, Texas; and Philip Bart Everett and wife Lisa of Athens, Texas. Claudine is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jacob Ryan Decker of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Nolan Ray Decker and Audrey Nicole Decker of Denton, Texas; Madison Elizabeth Decker of Van Alstyne, Texas; and Madison Leigh Everett of Mabank, Texas. Also surviving Claudine are her two nieces, D’Ann Lavine and Denise Burrell; her son’s widow, Carla Everett of Mabank, Texas; her sister-in-law Marceen Everett of Waco, Texas; her sister-in-law Betty Parks of Waco, Texas; and several nieces and nephews by her marriage to Alvis Everett, Sr.
A private burial open to family will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75232. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on that same day at Eubanks Cedar Creek Funeral Home, 601 State Highway 198 at Walnut, Mabank, Texas 75147. A reception and visitation at the funeral home will immediately follow the memorial service. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a contribution in Claudine’s memory do so to the American Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
