left this earth on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Elaine graduated from Robert E. Lee High School,
in 1971, in Tyler, Texas. After graduation, she attended The University of Texas at Austin until
1975, leaving with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Linguistics. Elaine was a talented and
vibrant woman with an ambitious mind; she used her skills as a Marketing manager for over 20
years with Neiman Marcus. Later, she became a Master Gardener and Master Naturalist with
the Dallas Master Gardeners. Elaine was active in various garden clubs and even volunteered at the
Juliette Fowler Communities. She had a huge and caring heart, one that cared for others
before herself. Elaine expressed her love and compassion for others; by volunteering her time
as a Camp Counselor at Camp Esperanza. This camp provides a needed diversion and fun
activities for children that are suffering from cancer. Esperanza is spanish for "Hope", that is
exactly what Elaine brought to these children each year. She will be dearly missed by all of
those she touched in her lifetime.
Elaine is preceded in death by her mother, Lometa Bradley and father, Hastings Ackley.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Ackley Hill; brother-in-law, Allan Hill; along with
numerous cousins.
A graveside service for Elaine will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Oak Lawn
Cemetery, Mabank, TX.
