Don graduated from Grandview High School in Grandview, Missouri. He started working in the flooring business at a young age, continued with a career in flooring sales, and started his own business with partners in 1993.
Don married the love of his life, JoEtta Speer Fraser, on June 22, 1963 in Peculiar, MO. Don and JoEtta fell in love with lake life together at The Lake of the Ozarks. When they moved to Richardson, TX in 1976 they found Cedar Creek Lake, where they built a second home and spent lots of time with family and friends. In 2015 they fulfilled their lifelong dream and moved permanently to the lake house along with Don’s extensive collection of lawn tractors. Tractors were a passion for Don. He enjoyed tinkering with them, restoring them, and giving all his grandchildren rides. Don’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought so much joy to his life. Everyone loved to call Grandpa for advice and he was always happy to give it to them.
Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, JoEtta; sister, Caia Patterson; daughter and her spouse, Penny and Johnny Hamlett; daughter, DeeDee Eastwood; and son and his spouse, Brian and Ellen Fraser. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Haley Hamlett Odom and her husband Graham, Ian Hamlett, Mason, Weston, and Gabby Eastwood, Caden and Hudson Fraser; two great grandchildren, Elliot and Baker Odom and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
