Dennis passed from his mortal body on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at his home with his wife of 38 years, Rosie, nearby. He had been waging a valiant battle against cancer for many years and multiple surgeries to which he finally succumbed.
We will celebrate his life on Saturday, November 2 at Walker’s Landing in Gun Barrel City beginning at 3:00 PM.
There will be another celebration on November 9 at Willie’s Lounge on E. Beacon starting at 3:00 PM in his hometown of Dallas.
Dennis was preceded in death by his Mother, Maurene Tatum Duckworth, and Step-Father Leonard Duckworth, who lovingly referred to him as “Menace”.
Dennis was a native Dallasite, who graduated from Lake Highlands High School and attended SMU. He loved sports of all kinds, but especially the Dallas Cowboys. He had a passion for planes, frequently visiting friends at the Athens Airport and going to Air Shows every chance he could.
Although he had no children of his own, he loved Rosie’s son and daughter Carolee Cain Cross of Gun Barrel City and Adrian and wife Marcia Cain of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
Surviving are a very special nephew Darrell and wife Gayle Smith on board the yacht “Gone Bamboo”, somewhere in the South Pacific, along with seven grandchildren and many beloved close friends.
