Billy “Bill” Therman Long, 80, of Gun Barrel City, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024. Bill was born on March 4, 1944, in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, to Therman Roy Long and Twyla Mae (Copeland) Long. He was one of five children and grew up with his siblings—Deanie, Sharon, Joy, and his brother Ducky—in Bushton, Kansas, where he attended high school.
Bill married the love of his life, Debby (Case) Long, on June 10, 1983. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising four daughters: Shelley, Caitey, Caylie, and Marley, and three sons: Randy, Deric, and Casey. Bill was a devoted family man who loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He had a passion for pool, golf, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—like relaxing with a cold beer, watching the birds, and building birdhouses for them to enjoy. He adored his grandchildren, and being a grandpa brought him immense joy. His beloved grandchildren are Meredith, Samantha, Lincoln, Sadie, Jo, Skylar, Shelby, Braxton, Spencer, Cason, Laney, and Michael. Bill’s circle extended beyond family to include many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who cherished his kind spirit and humor.
Bill will be remembered for his love of family, his craftsmanship, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He will be dearly missed but forever held in the hearts of those who loved him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Bud & Shugg; brother, Ducky and sister, Joy.
