Tammy was born April 16, 1960 to parents Neil & Irma Schmidt. Tammy grew up in what would become the city of Shoreline, graduating from Shoreline High School in 1978. She attended a radio broadcast school in the 1980s and then began a decades long career in Transportation working for companies like Global Transportation, DSL, FedEx, and finally with Selland Auto Transportation. She decided in 2019 to go back to school to obtain her Associates Degree in Social & Human services at Edmonds College, graduating in late 2021. Tammy was a life long writer and was able to publish sports articles on a women run website and enjoyed writing articles about the issues Seniors faced in the paper inserts for her employer Homage. She loved the Seahawks, the Mariners, UW Huskies, researching her ancestry, and Scotland; however, her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren who she was incredibly proud of. Tammy’s last few years were of great joy for her, and her passion for fellow seniors, social justice, and political activism were well know to those closest to her. Her day would always include a cup of coffee or Earl Grey tea with some Walker’s shortbread.
Tammy made many friends throughout her life and was a well-loved member of her apartment community as well as at Homage. She was predeceased by her parents Neil & Irma, sister Cheryl, and brother Kenneth Earl. She is survived by daughters Kari (Schmidt) Zimmerman and Rose (Morris) Luskin, brother Kevin Schmidt, niece Rachel, nephews Neil, Kenneth, Chase, and Zachary; and grandchildren Haley, Jackson, Jade, Amaya, Emily, and Madison.
There will be a celebration of life on November 5th.
