Russell Hoover was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota 10/16/1955, and lived in the Olivia, Minnesota area attending school until he was 10 years old. At that time his family moved to Richland, Washington and onto Seattle, Washington where he continued his education.
During his adult years he was with his Extended Family at Holly Community Services in Bellingham, Washington. Holly Community personnel were able to help him find work. One place was NW Industries; this line of work allowed him a purpose that many of us take for granted. He worked until his health would no longer allow him to be able to.
While at Holly Community Services Russell found his Love, Julie whom he married, they had known each other for about 20 years. He enjoyed Big Time Wrestling; his favorite was HULK HOGAN Russell and Julie had watched live in Seattle, Washington. Russell also participated in the SPECIAL OLYMPICS as a bowler and did quite well.
Russell enjoyed music, among the many CD’s he had Michael Jackson was among his favorites and Whip it was his favorite song to sing around the house with the dish towel ! He also enjoyed comedy and played his own jokes on those he was in contact with over the years. Always, the life of the party !! A talent Russell had acquired at the age of 6-7 was to watch horse races on TV and was able to tell you before the start of the race which horse was going to win. Many close friends had joked about taking him to Vegas, which never happened. Russell did hand crafts like woven baskets, trivets for hot pans, rugs braided from rags or old dresses, and entered many in the State Fair and won ribbons for his works.
Russell’s last years of life were spent at St. Francis Extended Care after he became a quadra paraplegic from an accident. He continued to play his jokes and laughing with the nurses until he became too ill to do so.
He will be remembered as a Special Loving Person from God, he touch our lives and taught us to be more giving, and loving. Russell Went To Be With God 07/29/2013.
Russell is preceded in death by his Paternal Grand Parents Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy Hoover; Maternal Grand Parents Mr. and Mrs. George Brace, his Father Richard Hoover and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins . He is survived by his Wife Julie, Mother Helen Sawin, Brothers Robert Hoover, John, David and Gary Sawin and Sisters Marie Acker, Donna Endresen, Jo Anne De Vaul and Dona Sawin as well as his Extended Family from Holly Community Services of Bellingham, Washington whom cared for him for many years.
