Roy was born to John Arvid Johnson and Adelia (Ramstrum) Johnson on July 10, 1933, in Crystal Falls, Michigan.
Roy left Michigan with his brother Earl, at age 15. He moved to California where he enrolled in North Hollywood High school and got a job at an ice cream shop. After enjoying the sun and beach for a while they traveled to Washington for bigger opportunities. In 1951 he graduated from Roosevelt High School. After graduation he was off to new adventures in Alaska where he became a heavy equipment operator before enlisting in the Army.
After the military he moved back to Washington where he met his wife of 64 years, Afke Van den Ban. Together they raised four amazing children. (Lynn, Susan, Phyllis and Ron)
Roy owned and operated 'Amp Electric Company' for many years. His biggest and proudest achievement was developing and building in the community, Vista La Grande in Snohomish. This is where he still resided and overlooked "The Farm".
Roy always enjoyed his family first and foremost. They were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling and traveling with friends/family.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Afke and grandson Corey.
Roy is survived by daughters Lynn (Clay), Susan (Mike), Phyllis (Brian) and son Ron (Emily). Roy was a wonderful grandpa to 8 grandchildren Ryan (Nicole), Christina (Levi), Corey, Kevin (Amy), Shawn (Jennifer), Chase, Ana, and Macee. Roy was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren (Tinley, Ada, Noah, Josey Knapp), (John & Olivia Pierce), (Kasen & Kamden Reinholtz) (Grace, Mathew, Brooke Reinholtz) and (Char Patterson).
