Ron passed away March 3, 2011, at the age of 67. He was born on August 22, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT. He attended Fairfield Prep in Fairfield, CT, and helped lead the undefeated football team to the 1960 State Championship. Ron continued his football career at the Air Force Academy from 1961-65, playing in the 1963 Gator Bowl. He went on to fly a KC-135 in Vietnam. After his service in the Air Force, he was a Director of Training for several international corporations. Ron was an avid golfer, gardener, oil painter, and Sudoku expert. He also loved traveling, blackjack, and Dirk Pitt novels.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sharyn Bolton; children Drew Miazga, Whitney Sheehan and husband Will, Chris Miazga and wife Tracy, Carylin Waterval and husband Mark; grandchildren Brendan and Lindsay Waterval and Harper Miazga; sister Andrea O’Neil and husband Bill; nieces Jacy and Cindy Rosado; and parents-in-law Oliver and Nonnie Bolton.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Rd., Lynnwood, WA. Ron will be buried in Colorado Springs, CO, at the Air Force Academy's national cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Association of Free Clinics
