Rick was born June 24, 1941 in Bellingham, WA, and was raised in Blaine Washington, graduating from Blaine High School in 1959. He grew up in & around the beaches & fishing industry of the Whatcom County area -spending summers fishing in Alaska in his late teens.
Rick and Sheryl were married in 1962. Moving to Seattle after their marriage, he studied at Edison Technical School and entered an apprenticeship training program as a Sheet Metal Worker and was employed at Holaday-Parks Fabricators in the HVAC building trade for over forty years, retiring in 2003. Rick received his 50 year pin from Sheet Metal Workers Local 66 earlier this year.
Rick and Sheryl raised their three children, Kurt, Kim & Keith in the Brier & Mountlake Terrace area - where they have lived for over 50 years. He enjoyed many family camping trips, fishing, crabbing, clam-digging & gatherings with friends & extensive family at their cabin at Birch Bay, WA and hunting trips with the guys in the Olympic Peninsula.
Rick leaves Sheryl, his wife of 51 years, son Kurt Stefanson (partner Gary Everist), daughter Kim Monson (husband Jim) and son Keith Stefanson (wife Robin). Grandchildren Craig Monson, Brad Monson, Blake Stefanson & Olivia Stefanson. He is predeceased by his mother, Elinor Day and in-laws Mickey & Amy Irwin. He is survived by brother Gary Stefanson, sisters Kathy Kyle & Kerry Davenport, extended family and many lifelong friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013, 2 p.m. at Holly Hills Clubhouse, 19200 Hollyhills Dr NE, Bothell, WA 98011
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County.
