Richard W. Krause aka Dick, 85, of Bothell, WA, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, firefighter, friend and a father figure to many, may he never be forgotten.

Dick was born in Seattle, WA to Mildred and Willy Krause on December 15, 1937. He went into the US Naval Reserve in 1955 on the USS Alabama Submarine until 1963. Dick attended and graduated in 1956 from Lincoln High School in Seattle. He then married Mary Frances Carson aka Mimi on June 11, 1964, in Seattle, WA. The next few years, 1965 and 1969 they had two Daughters, Kathy and Kim. Dick worked as a mechanic at Porsche-Audi VW dealerships for 16 before he landed his job as a firefighter in 1976.

Growing up, Dick was involved in the sea scouts, skiing, racing cars, showing cars, coin collection and scuba diving, and was a volunteer firefighter. During Dick’s career as a firefighter, he started a chipping and stump grinding company known as Dick’s Chipping.

He was an avid Seahawks fan and was a season ticket holder for many seasons even going on a Seahawk Cruise. Dick loved spending time in the San Juan’s at his cabin on Center Island. Dick was proud to be a firefighter for Snohomish County Fire District #1 until his retirement as a Captain in 2002.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Kathryn Krause.

Dick is survived by his wife Mimi, his brother Leonard Krause, daughter Kimberley Peterson, son-in-law Jay Peterson; granddaughter Rylee Krepsz; grandsons Joshua Krause, Jayson Peterson and Brandan Hughes; great grandchildren; Wyatt Krause, Lucas Krause, Addison Peterson and Sean Krepsz III.

Dick was a true Washingtonian and will be greatly missed.

Dick’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Alpha Home Hospice, South Snohomish County Fire and Rescue Honor Guard, our Chaplain and Floral Hills Cemetery and all of our family and friends who are helping us through. Thank you, you have all made his hard time a little bit easier.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday June 15, 2023, at Floral Hills. Burial will follow at Floral Hills in the Garden Arrangements are by Floral Hills.
