Paulette (Polly) Arlene Dixon, who was a patient teacher, loving mother, doting daughter, devoted wife, and magnetic family member, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on July 8, 2019. Polly was born in Seattle on September 14, 1942 to Paul and Marian Dyson. She excelled academically at Franklin High School before attending Vancouver Bible Institute, where she met her husband, Doug. After they were married, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Central Washington University. Doug and Polly purchased their forever home in Mountlake Terrace in 1974, where they raised their four children. A highly sought after substitute teacher in the Edmonds School District, Polly used a gentle approach with special needs students. Throughout her childhood and early adulthood, she played piano for school and church activities. Most recently, she attended Calvary Fellowship in Mountlake Terrace. Polly was active throughout her life, and continued their family traditions of gardening, baking, and canning. She loved spending time on the Oregon Coast with her family, playing games, searching for agates, and eating delicious meals.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marian Dyson, her sister, Margaret Iverson and her beloved grandson, Graham Dixon. She is survived by her husband, Doug Dixon, and her children John, Robert, Janelle and Lori Dixon. She also leaves three bereaved siblings (Marvin Dyson, Jennie Sweet, and Warren Dyson), five heartbroken grandchildren (Caleb, Adam, Rachel, Claire, and Liam) and twelve adoring nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 2pm on Friday, July 26 at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road in Lynnwood. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to Calvary Fellowship in Mountlake Terrace (www.calvaryfellowship.org) or Wonderland Family Services in Shoreline (www.wonderlandkids.org).
